What we do

Consultancy across the whole technology decision

Our registered activities — information technology consultancy, alongside wider business support services — cover the full arc of a technology decision: understanding the problem, choosing the answer, and making sure it lands.

How we work

Independent advice, or it isn't advice

A consultancy that also sells you the software is not giving you an opinion — it is giving you a quote. We take no commission, no referral fee and no reseller margin from any vendor, ever.

That independence is the whole product. It means we can tell you the platform you were sold last year is fine and needs configuring rather than replacing; that the cheapest licence tier genuinely covers what you do; or that the ambitious project on the table should be three smaller ones. Every recommendation comes with the reasoning, the cost, and the option we rejected — so the decision stays yours.

Tell us about your situation

No vendor commissionsWe are paid by you, for the advice, and nothing else
Written, not verbalFindings, options and costs you can circulate and challenge
Fixed scope, fixed feeAgreed before we start — no open-ended day rates
Designed to endYou keep the documents, the accounts and the knowledge
The method

Four steps, from a vague worry to a decision

The same structure whether the question is a single system or a whole technology estate.

Understand

We start with the business, not the servers: what you do, what is slow or fragile, what the next two years look like, and what has already been tried.

Assess

A structured review of systems, contracts, costs, security and data — scored across five domains so the gaps can be ranked rather than argued about.

Recommend

Options written up with costs, risks and trade-offs, and a roadmap that says what to do this quarter, this year, and what can safely wait.

Support

If you want it, we stay on to run the change — managing suppliers, coordinating the work, and handing over documentation your team can actually use.

Ways to work with us

Three shapes of engagement

Pick the one that fits the question in front of you. Everything is scoped and priced in writing before work begins.

Technology assessment

A fixed two-to-three week review of your systems, costs, security and risks, ending in a written report and a prioritised roadmap.

  • Interviews with your team and suppliers
  • Scored review across five domains
  • Board-ready report and presentation

Project consultancy

A defined piece of work: a cloud migration plan, a system selection, a security uplift, an integration design — scoped, costed and delivered.

  • Written scope and fixed quote
  • Named consultant throughout
  • Documentation handed over at the end

Advisory retainer

A set number of days each month for organisations that want a technology voice in the room without hiring an IT director.

  • Regular reviews and planning sessions
  • Supplier and contract oversight
  • A call you can make before deciding

Who we help

Organisations at the point where informal IT stops working

There is a stage most organisations reach — usually somewhere between ten and two hundred people — where the systems that grew up organically start to hold everything back. Spreadsheets have become infrastructure, three tools do the same job, nobody is quite sure who has access to what, and the next decision feels too expensive to get wrong.

That is where we do our best work. Based in Luton, we advise clients across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, London and the wider UK, working remotely by default and on-site where the work genuinely needs a room and a whiteboard.

  • Professional services
  • Healthcare & care providers
  • Charities & non-profits
  • Logistics & distribution
  • Retail & e-commerce
  • Education & training
  • Construction & property
  • Financial services firms

Platforms we advise on

  • Microsoft 365
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Workspace
  • Entra ID & identity
  • Windows & macOS estates
  • Device management (MDM)
  • Networks & VPN
  • Backup platforms
  • CRM & ERP systems
  • Finance & payroll systems
  • Collaboration & VoIP
  • Reporting & BI tools

We favour mainstream, well-supported platforms your team can hire for. Anything unusual has to earn its place with a reason you would be comfortable defending in a year.

What you get

Deliverables you can act on without us in the room

Consultancy that lives only in conversations is worth nothing the week after it ends. Every engagement leaves documents behind.

The assessment report

Findings, evidence and scores across five domains, written in plain English — with an executive summary a non-technical board can read in ten minutes and still make a decision from.

The roadmap

A prioritised, costed plan: what to do now, next quarter and next year, with the reasoning for each sequence decision and an honest estimate of effort and disruption.

The handover pack

System documentation, supplier and licence registers, key policies and configuration notes — the things that let your team, or your next provider, pick up where we left off.

Good consultancy should make itself unnecessary. If you still need us to explain your own systems a year later, we did the job badly. — Our working principle
Questions

Straight answers

A support company keeps what you have running day to day. We advise on what you should have in the first place — which systems, at what cost, in what order, and what the risks are. The two work well together: we are happy to write the plan and brief your existing support provider to deliver it, or to help you find one.

Every engagement is quoted as a fixed fee against a written scope, so you know the number before you commit. A technology assessment for a small organisation is typically a two-to-three week piece of work; project consultancy and retainers are priced on the scope agreed. The introductory call is free, and if we think the work is not worth doing, we will tell you that instead of quoting for it.

No. We take no commission, referral fee or reseller margin from any vendor, and we have no partner targets to hit. You buy directly from suppliers on your own contracts, in your own name. That is what makes our recommendation an opinion rather than a sales pitch.

Routinely, and it is usually the best outcome. We interview them as part of any assessment, share our findings openly, and where the relationship is working we say so. Our aim is a plan your provider can deliver — not a reason to replace them.

We work with organisations from around ten people upwards. Below that, honest advice is usually a single conversation rather than an engagement — and we are glad to have that conversation without turning it into an invoice.

We handle personal data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Anything you share about your systems is treated as confidential, held only as long as the engagement and our record-keeping obligations require, and never used to market to your suppliers or clients. Full detail is in our privacy policy.

Start with the question you keep putting off

The migration you are unsure about, the quote that feels too high, the system nobody trusts, the security question you would rather not test. Send us a few lines about it and we will reply with an honest view and a clear next step — no obligation, no sales sequence.
